Ed Sandoval opened Ed Sandoval Gallery in 1993. HIs work has received the Governor’s Award for Excellence in the Arts and has been featured in New Mexico Magazine, Cowboys & Indians and Southwest Art magazine. Sandoval’s works are frequently selected for the Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta, Santa Fe Opera and other venues.
Statement
“My paintings are oil on canvas and illustrate my deep reverence for the New Mexico of my boyhood, when rural life was slow and peaceful.
“Inspired by our ever-changing symphony of color, I capture a feeling of impressionism and expressionism. Priming each canvas with a red undercoat, I outline the Sangre de Cristo mountains pulsing with energy and warmth. Chamisa and cottonwoods surround adobe casitas, white clouds billow in a blue sky and my signature trademark, El Viejito (little old man), walks solitary or with a companion.” – Ed Sandoval
