More about Desert Agave

An overhead view of the desert agave provides a perfect look at the growth structure of this hearty desert plant. As leaves unfurl, they leave the imprint of their edges and spines on adjacent leaves, creating fascinating patterns. Combining the visual shadows, imprints and actual leaves, the pattern is overlaid and repeated on the plant itself.

Total dimensions: 26 x 26 x 2″

Vanessa Rusczyk

Vanessa Rusczyk’s award-winning paintings of native flora and natural landscapes give viewers a close look at plant structure and natural design, immersing them
in that small world on a human scale. Her paintings are inspired by hikes
around the West and the native species she grows in her garden.

Vanessa was raised in New Mexico, and after 8 years on the East Coast,
she returned to the West she loves. She lives in North San Diego County,
surrounded by the wild chaparral hillsides that define much of Southern
California. Frequent trips to the desert regions of the American Southwest, including Joshua Tree and Anza Borrego Desert State Park, provide endless material for her large flora portraits.
