Katelyn Betsill // @kbpaint
Katelyn R. Betsill is an american oil painter and printmaker originally from Texas and Hawaii, and currently based in far West Texas.
Growing up between the West Maui Mountains and her family’s ranch in Texas manifested a true love of the outdoors and fascination with the vast American landscape and the life that it holds. That fascination morphed into the pursuit of higher education in the biology and conservation field. Katelyn studied biology and geography at the University of Texas at Austin, and later was employed as a naturalist and field biologist.
Most of her work is inspired by the Chihuahuan Desert and the wildlife that calls it home, as well as the science & biology behind why things do what they do.
Statement
“I am drawn to the remoteness of the desert, a place that has no expectation yet holds so much beauty and life, completely perfect in its solitude.
