B. Shawn Cox is a mixed-media artist, juror, collector and curator based in Austin, Texas. Cox has degrees from Texas Tech Univeristy in Architecture and Law but has maintained and developed an art practice for over 30 years. His vibrant and diverse art practice has been exhibited widely and was honored with a billboard as a finalist for Austin ARTBoards. He is represented by Davis Gallery in Austin TX and Commerce Gallery in Lockhart TX. A large-scale solo exhibition entitled “WESTWARD, FAUX!” opens in November 2021 in conjunction with the City of Austin. His work is in corporate and private collections across the United States.

“I create to the calm light of pop philosophy using fragments of the written or sung word, applied pattern, and carefully selected images from a black and white past. I am a native Texan, from Monahans, TX. After diverse careers as an architect and an attorney, my artistic practice seeks connection by creating works that explore both a real and imagined Western past and document insights with colorful commentary on personal and collective contemporary social mythology.” – B.
