“This plant was found right next to Hot Creek in Mono County California. It’s native to this region and I found many of these blooming. It was very early morning as I was camping there and found these as a took a small hike. I liked the dramatic light and shadow as well as the bursts of pink in the buds. I wanted to capture subtle colors and exaggerate them a bit. There was a variety of hues within the leaves as they were in different stage of life.” – Shae Reardon
