Artist Interviews

In the Studio with Kerri S. Menchaca

Originally recorded August 24, 2022.

A brief visit with Kerri S. Menchaca looks closely at the finishing details of the work—from a French-cleat hanging system and hand-inscribed title to its mirror-bright surface. View Kerri S. Menchaca’s artist profile and available work.

Transcript note: Speaker labels were assigned from the source audio where available and dialogue context otherwise. Paragraph breaks were added for readability, and verbal filler was lightly edited. Joint labels mark rapid or overlapping exchanges. This was prepared from an automated transcription, so minor transcription errors may remain.

Participants: George Irwin and Kerri S. Menchaca

Kerri S. Menchaca: I cleaned up the line.

George Irwin: Oh man.

Kerri S. Menchaca: But, it's got the hanger in the back. This one is the French cleat and then I inscribe with a Dremel.

George Irwin: The title?

Kerri S. Menchaca: The very right.

George Irwin: That's what they look like in person. It's great. And it's so shiny, like we'll go up to it and it's almost like a mirror. Like you can see your clothes. I love this camera.

Kerri S. Menchaca: This is my mom's... china hutch!
