More about Horsehead Crossing, Pecos Texas

Horsehead Crossing on the Pecos River near Pecos Texas is named for all the horse skulls that lined the banks at one time. The Butterfield Overland Stage crossed here as well as the Comanche Trail and the Goodnight Loving Trail. This was inspired by Horsehead Crossing Days, an annual celebration featuring history talks and cannon firings.
