Living in the ranching country of Montana, Trish Stevenson is inspired to paint the people, animals and action of the West, attributing the Western soul of her work to memories of her grandfather, a locally famous bronc-riding cowboy in his day, who loved horses. While painting in oil or pastel she focuses on traits like strength, determination and the battle of wills, finding rodeo to be a great vehicle for expressing those traits.
