Influenced by a creative grandmother, Wright discovered his passion for art in early childhood, eventually earning an art education degree from Kansas State Teachers College. It was there he discovered a love for watercolors. During summers, Wright and husband Don traveled throughout the American Southwest and Europe, returning to paint the landscapes highlighted in her trips. Wright made Taos her home in 2012, and is a signature member of the Taos Watercolor Society.
“My paintings are of scenes which have some special emotional impact for me. Often they are from landscapes I see around Taos, New Mexico or the Western United States. Ancient trees and boulders, melting adobes and canyons capture my attention. In my studio, the watercolor takes on a life of its own and I respond to it. Utilizing striking colors and bold forms brings life to my paintings.” – Jinx Wright
